Master Calendar
The Office of Public Affairs is responsible for updating and distributing the College’s master calendar. While the master calendar is still available through Microsoft Outlook®, the online master calendar has been replaced with the “Events Calendar.” Individuals may request and pick up a printed version of the calendar at any time by visiting the Office of Public Affairs in Administration 111. Additionally, the master calendar is available for viewing over the campus network with Microsoft Outlook® software as well as Webmail. Contact the Office of Instructional & Information Technology for any software needs.
Photography
The Office of Public Affairs likes to stay abreast of all College-related special events, guests and field trips for publicity in local newspapers or the alumni newsletter, View from the Hill. Please let the Public Affairs staff know in advance—the earlier the better—so they don’t miss your event.
Special Events
When scheduling events, contact the Office of Public Affairs to have your event included on the master calendar, promoted in local media outlets and published in the student-produced weekly newsletter, The Bear Facts.
Once an event has been scheduled, please be sure to advise Public Affairs of any changes. Event information is distributed to several departments on campus, including Aramark, Physical Plant and the Office of Safety and Security. In order to avoid confusion, any changes must be shared with those departments. Arrangements for all major events (i.e. flowers, decorations, signage and media coverage) are arranged through the Office of Public Affairs. Facility reservations for Sturgill Board Room, the Pikeville College Gym, Chrisman Auditorium and the Community Technology Center are made through other departments; however, a Public Affairs staff member will be happy to advise you on whom to call for reservations.
Gifts
The Office of Public Affairs provides small gifts for special guests/speakers brought to campus. Contact the Office of Public Affairs to let them know in advance when and for whom the gift will be needed.
Advertising
All advertising, including positions for employment, are to be channeled through the Office of Public Affairs. Basic information should be provided with the preferred means of advertising noted and approved by your supervisor.
The Bear Facts
Any information you have that might need to be included in the College weekly newsletter may be e-mailed to bearfacts@pc.edu. The Bear Facts is produced by the students taking COM 310, Principles of Editing and Design, offered through the Division of Humanities.
Personalized Items
With approval from the appropriate division chair or supervisor, the Office of Public Affairs can design and/or order nametags, notepads, T-shirts and business cards for faculty or staff involved in activities that are beneficial to the College.
