PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Seven players reached double figures and the home team absolutely dominated the glass as No. 8 Pikeville College rolled past Temple Baptist College 126-77 Tuesday night at the East Kentucky Expo Center.

Pikeville improved to 12-1 on the season with its fifth straight win, including three in the last four days.

Two Bears who normally don’t provide a lot of points led the team in scoring on Tuesday, with junior Ryan Whitaker and sophomore Chris Puckett tossing in 20 points each. They did it on minimal shots, combined to hit 15-of-20 from the field.

In addition, the guards crashed the glass hard. Whitaker had 11 to lead the team and record his first double-double of the season, while Puckett had six boards.

Ten different Bears had at least four rebounds, helping the team to a 66-23 domination on the glass.

Whitaker and Puckett were followed by sophomore Kane Belcher and freshman Trevor Setty with 14 markers each. Senior Jonathan Clark and junior Justin Hicks had 13 points apiece. For Hicks, his points came in only six minutes of playing time.

Temple Baptist also had five players in double figures, led by Jarmar White’s 23 points on 4-of-7 shooting. Freshman Milen Kostov followed with 15 on 3-of-5 shooting from outside. Peter Jackson followed with 13, while Tyler Watts nailed 4-of-9 from the arc to finish with 12. Micah Simms added 10.

The Rams were 13-of-32 from the arc for 40.6 percent shooting.

Pikeville will be off for nine days until the opening of league play when they travel to Campbellsville to play the Tigers on Thursday, Jan. 14. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
