PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Kay Hammond was recently named president of the Pikeville College Alumni Association. She will work with alumni board members to plan reunions, banquets, and campus celebrations that support the mission of the College.
The goal of the alumni association, and its 11,000 members, is to serve as the thread that binds alumni and Pikeville College. The alumni association consists of graduates and others who have attended Pikeville College.
Hammond, a retired high school librarian, is currently the director of the Appalachian Pregnancy Care Center and director of Pikeville College’s Baptist Campus Ministry. She also served as assistant librarian at Pikeville College.
In addition to Pikeville College, Hammond is an alumna of Morehead State University and Eastern Kentucky University. Her career has been devoted to helping young people and her experience and passion is a great asset to the community. She is the wife of David Hammond, pastor of the Faith Baptist Church in Myra.
A new board president is elected annually by the alumni board of directors. Hammond has assumed the office held by Judge Eddy Coleman, who remains on the board. Coleman served as president for two years. During his term, the Alumni Association continued to provide strong support for Pikeville College through programs and events that benefit the College and its students.
“Pikeville College is blessed to have such dedicated alumni leaders as Judge Eddy Coleman has been. We are excited about Kay’s leadership and enthusiasm for the Alumni Association,” said Rob Justice, assistant vice president for development. “The foundation of the College’s success has been the continued efforts and support of our alumni and friends.”
