PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Defending Mid-South Conference Player of the Year Viktoria Krell tossed in 30 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead No. 25 Lindsey Wilson to a 76-69 win over Pikeville College Saturday afternoon.

Lindsey Wilson (11-5, 1-1 in the Mid-South Conference) led the entire way by as many as 21 (55-34) with 16:10 to play when freshman Megan Hartfield scored. But the Lady Bears mounted a rally that pulled them back within five (72-67) which came when junior Whitney Compton sank a free throw.

The Lady Raiders left the door open to a certain extent, making only 3-of-8 free throws down the stretch. But Pikeville went 50 seconds between field goals and managed to sink only two of its four tosses in the stretch when it had the opportunity to continue to trim the lead.

Lindsey Wilson then settled down, hitting three of four free throws, to stretch the lead back to nine before a late layup by sophomore Megan Mosley settled the final score.

Krell, who had 20 of her points by recess, was 12-of-17 from the field to lead all scorers. Two teammates were in double figures as well – sophomore Lindsey Waters tossed in 14 to go with six rebounds, while senior Sierra Rambert finished with 13.

Pikeville (12-6, 0-2) had four players in double figures, led by junior Whitney Compton’s 19 points and 11 rebounds. Mosley had 14 along with three assists and three steals, while junior Meagan Johnson had 12 and junior Natiera Hinton 10.

The Lady Bears will remain home on Thursday when they entertain Georgetown College at 6 p.m. at the East Kentucky Expo Center. Lindsey Wilson will return to Columbia to play Campbellsville on Thursday night in a 6 p.m. CST start.
