PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Men's coach Kelly Wells announced that Justin Hicks, Jonathan Clark, and Josh Samarco have been selected tri-captains by their teammates for the 2009-10 season.

"We did an internal captain vote that included the coaching staff and these three young men were chosen to represent our team in our efforts to be at our best. These three have shown great leadership to date and we expect that will continue."

Hicks, a 5-11 junior from Hazard, Ky., is a two-time Honorable Mention All-MSC selection. Hicks averaged 13.8 points per game, 4.4 assists per game hit 84 percent from the line, and shot 35 percent from the three.

Clark, a 6-0 senior from Charlotte, N.C., who is a transfer from Louisiana Tech. He averaged 9.5 points per game in 31.5 minutes, shot 34 percent from the three, 86.6 percent from the free throw line and had 2.7 rebounds per game.

Samarco, a 6-1 senior from Ypsilanti, Mich., was a Second Team All-American and First Team All-MSC averaged 20.4 points per game, shot 48 percent from the three, 46 percent from the field and 89 percent from the line.

Well added, “It is a tremendous honor for Justin, J.C. and Scottie to be voted captains by their peers and coaches. With the leadership of these three along with their teammates, we look forward to great success on and off the court this season.”
