PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Pikeville College students, faculty and staff have joined the relief effort to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Volunteers with the Bears’ “Paws for a Cause” project collected nearly $700 by raffling prizes from local businesses and accepting
donations for the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund.
“This is really a testament to the generosity and spirit of people here. So many have stepped up and really want to change our world,” said Ella Smith, assistant professor of Spanish. “We’re really pleased with the effort so far and hope to raise $1,000 total.”
Collection stations have been set up across campus and donations are still being accepted. For more information, contact Smith at (606) 218-5012 or smithe@pc.edu.
