Personal
My nursing career began at the South Williamson (Kentucky) Appalachian Regional Hospital after college graduation in 1976. I moved to eastern Kentucky from Connecticut and have worked in acute care settings and nursing programs in Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky. I have taught courses in fundamentals, medical-surgical and professional issues; have been a research associate; and have even substituted for an OB clinical with lots of help from students! I simply love exploring concepts in nursing, developing curriculum and quietly enhancing the professional development of nursing students and faculty.
I became the fourth chair of the Division of Nursing at Pikeville College in June 2000. Currently I live with my husband, Glen, and six (outdoor) stray cats that claim us as parents up a holler called “Mudlick” in Hardy, Ky. This environment gladly allows me the solitude to enjoy hobbies of growing herbs and wildflowers, baking and Italian cooking. I also enjoy listening to my husband’s old-time banjo and mandolin picking with friends.
