Dance Program

Pikeville College Community Education Dance Program offers classes in ballet, pre-ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and creative movement. Classes are offered during the fall, spring and summer semesters.

Creative Movement classes, for three- and four-year-olds, meet one-half hour per week. Beginners’ classes in ballet, tap and jazz are offered for ages five through adult. These classes meet for 45 minutes per week, for five- and six-year-olds, and one hour per week for ages seven through adult.

We offer more advanced classes for ages eight through adult. Students are assigned to classes based on age and experience. These classes meet for various times ranging from one hour per week to one and one-half hours twice a week.

A special class, for boys ages seven through young teen, focuses on flexibility, strength, balance and stamina, and is aimed at boys who want to improve their athletic abilities. They also have opportunities to perform as dancers, such as soldiers in The Nutcracker.

Costs are $100 per semester for half-hour classes, $125 per semester for 45-minute classes, $150 per semester for one-hour, once-a-week classes and $200 per semester for classes that meet twice a week. These prices include costumes for the spring recital.
