Wellness Program
The Pikeville College Wellness Program kicked off during the fall 2007 semester with the first official event, “Steptember.” The event was quite successful with 96 employees participating on 24 walking teams.
As a result of the numerous requests to continue walking on into the fall, “Walktober” was rolled out during the month of October. This event was a strong follow-up with 14 teams of 56 employees walking for a healthier tomorrow.
All ideas for wellness events are welcome. Please e-mail Human Resources with your ideas and requests.
Healthy Walking Paths of Pikeville, Ky.
The Pike County Diabetes Partnership recently unveiled four walking trails throughout the city of Pikeville. The group is supported by the City of Pikeville, Pikeville Main Street Renaissance Program and UNITE Pike. The four walking trails are clearly marked with color-coded plaques and are set in concrete flush with the ground.
Click here for a brochure (in Adobe Acrobat PDF format) containing the walking paths map and trail descriptions. The trails are all close to campus and make a great retreat before or after work or even during lunch break.
