Pikeville College owns and maintains houses and apartments as a service to its employees. These dwellings are rented under the following guidelines:
- Housing is offered to our employees first. Only the President may approve exceptions to this policy.
- No pets are permitted.
- No smoking is permitted.
- College officials may enter any apartment for emergency maintenance or inspection purposes with or without notice.
- When available, efficiency apartments in Spilman will be assigned to married students on the basis of need.
- The person signing the rental agreement must reside in the dwelling.
- If a housing unit is available but there have been no employee requests for it, the unit may be rented to someone other than a College employee.
Tenants of a College-owned housing unit may be asked to move under certain conditions specified in the lease agreement or in the following situations:
- The appropriate official of the Physical Plant and/or the Business Office determines that tenant damage to the property is more than normal wear and tear.
- The tenant’s employment with the College ends due to resignation or termination. The housing must be vacated within 30 days from the effective date of resignation or termination, whichever applies.
- The President requests the tenant move in the best interest of the College. For more information: Contact the Business Office for more information about College-owned housing.
