Family Medicine Faculty

Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking applications for a full time faculty member in Family Medicine. Under the supervision of the Department Chair, this position has direct responsibility for teaching and osteopathic research in Dept. of Family Medicine.

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for coordination and teaching in the Family Medicine Department, including but not limited to: 

Participation in staff evaluation and management
Assists with budget preparation and management 
Participates in and recommends curriculum development and evaluation
Teaches in lecture and lab settings, as directed by the Department Chair 
Assists in the preparation of course syllabi, objectives, lecture schedules, and testing procedures
Assists in the preparation of materials and documentation required for continued accreditation of the school by the AOA and other accrediting agencies
Serves on appointed Committees 
Provides clinical services as directed by the Department Chair and Dean 
Provides counseling and guidance for the students 
Responsible for other duties as directed by the Dean

Qualifications

Education: Must have an earned D.O. from a COCA accredited college/school of osteopathic medicine.
Experience: Must be eligible for unrestricted Kentucky license. Previous research and academic/clinical experience is preferred. The salary is commensurate with the experience in academic and clinical education.
Skills and Abilities: Must have excellent organizational, communication, teaching, and decision-making skills.

Assistant Professor of Osteopathic Principles and Practice

The Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine (PCSOM) seeks an experienced professional to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Osteopathic Principles and Practice.

Applicants should have experience in academic and clinical medicine, be a member of the AOA, board certified by an AOA certifying board (AOBSPOMM or AOBNMM preferred), have a current unrestricted medical license and physically capable of performing the duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching OPP/OMT to osteopathic medical students in the classroom, laboratory and clinical settings.

Director of Admissions and Alumni Services for Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine

Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine (PCSOM) seeks an experienced professional for the position of Director of Admissions and Alumni Services. Under the supervision of the PCSOM Associate Dean for Student Affairs, this position oversees the recruitment and admissions of osteopathic medical students in accord with PCSOM’s mission. This individual also assists the Associate Dean with the overall planning, implementation, and management of programs and services meant to develop and enhance long term relationships with PCSOM alumni.

Primary duties consist of the following:
Manage a successful recruitment and communication plan to enroll a qualified and diverse entering class by cultivating relationships with internal and external constituents; develop publications, exhibits, and electronic communications; offer presentations to prospective applicants at feeder schools and at professional meetings.

Promote PCSOM and its programs by recruiting and providing information to prospective students.

Administer an enrollment plan that guides the work of the admissions office in meeting enrollment goals and in improving the academic profile of the medical school's entering classes.

Implement a communications and visibility plan that strengthens the medical school's reputation with professional audiences and its attractiveness to prospective medical students.

Oversee evaluation of applicants.

Prepare admissions reports to guide strategic planning.

Execute marketing initiatives, manage constituent communications, oversee publications (print and electronic), and plan events to promote student recruitment and alumni development.

Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Student Affairs.

Qualifications
PCSOM seeks a professional with prior experience in competitive admissions and recruiting, preferably within a medical school. A baccalaureate degree is required; a master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred. The successful candidate should also evidence strong oral and written communication skills; strong organizational and planning skills; ability to work independently and to make fine distinctions among competitive applicants; experience as a supervisor; exceptional interpersonal skills in order to work well with potential applicants, advisors, etc.; ability to organize time, plan programs and large group functions; the ability to articulate the value of an osteopathic medical education to a variety of constituencies; demonstrated good judgment; sensitivity to cultural, socioeconomic, and regional differences; ability to maintain high energy level and enthusiasm for PCSOM; ability to respond to difficult situations calmly and with credibility; respect for and ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to travel throughout the year, including weekends and evenings.

Standardized Patients and Human Models

Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine (PCSOM) is seeking individuals interested in applying for the Standardized Patient and Human Model Program on the school’s campus.

A standardized patient is a person willing and trained to portray an actual patient with a specific medical history and physical exam findings for the purpose of instructing health professional students. A human model is a person willing to serve as an actual patient for physical examination training by health professional students.

Interested candidates for the Standardized Patient and Human Model Program should have flexible schedules, an ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism, and an interest in medicine and medical education. Standardized patients and human models are hired by PCSOM and will be paid an hourly wage for training and providing requested services. Interested individuals must be age 18 or older to apply.
