Bowlers finish strong in SI Elite - November 10, 2009

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The Pikeville College women’s bowling team turned in a second-place finish in the Southern Illinois Elite Invitational last weekend in Fairview Heights, Ill.

The men, however, weren’t as fortunate, with the top team coming in 12th in the strong 34-team field at the same event. read more

Lindenwood teams sweep PC bowling tournament - October 19, 2009

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The Pikeville College women’s bowling team placed all three of its teams in the championship round, had a player take medalist honors and had half the all-tournament team. But when it came time for the big hardware from its own Orange & Black Classic, it went to another team.

Meanwhile, the men placed no team higher than 13th in the 49-team field and had only six bowlers among the top 100 individuals in the tournament it hosted this weekend in the Dayton suburb of Beavercreek, Ohio. read more

Bears bowlers win sectional; women easily qualify for nationals - March 16, 2009

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Sectional championships have become the norm for Pikeville College and its bowling programs. The women’s bowling team, the current defending national champions, had won their section six times in its seven tries entering this weekend.

So it wasn’t much of a surprise when they rolled back in from Allentown, Penn., with sectional championship in hand. The only shock was which team was carrying the trophy. read more

Women's Bowling wins fifth tournament; men finish fifth - January 21, 2009

CINCINNATI – Eight members of the Pikeville College women’s bowling team averaged higher than 200 for the weekend and five of them were on the winning team as the Lady Bears brought home the title from the Hoinke Bearcat Classic.

All three of Pikeville’s entries finished in the top five in the 22-team field, and the two teams that didn’t win the tournament were eliminated by teammates. The win was the fifth in eight tournaments for the women’s team this season. read more
