Welcome to the Pikeville College Social Work Program Web site!

The Social Work Program is one of the newest academic programs at Pikeville College and is dedicated to maintaining a rigorous curriculum that will produce entry level social work professionals educated in the generalist practice approach who can think critically, conceptualize and apply theoretical and practical solutions, understand policies and procedures of the profession and collaborate with other social services providers to maximize effectiveness. In addition, being located in one of the most beautiful places in the world — the mountain area of central Appalachia, the program is also deeply dedicated to rural Appalachia and its people. We feel strongly that these two primary commitments combine to create a unique program which affords the opportunity for Appalachian students to become engaged in a learning process that empowers them by providing them with the tools (i.e. knowledge, values and skills) to address the various needs of Eastern Kentucky, rural Appalachia and beyond.

The program’s unique curriculum, expert faculty, warm and friendly environment, active student body and low student-faculty ratio make the Pikeville College Social Work Program the ideal place to train for professional social work practice.
