LPN-to-RN Program

LPN-to-RN applicants are considered for admission once a year to Semester III of the nursing program, with an application deadline of March 1.

The admission criteria for the LPN to RN program of study are as follows:

  • Meet the admission criteria for all nursing applicants.
  • Meet the Pikeville College requirements for transfer applicants and transfer credit.
  • Valid practical nursing license.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience as an LPN within the last three years.
  • Grade of ‘C’ or better in prerequisite Semester I and Semester II required support courses.
  • Grade of ‘C’ (76%) or better on required Nursing Challenge exams.
  • Grade of ‘C’ or better in NUR 130 received within the last two years.
  • Meet with the Nursing Division Chair and/or the Admissions Committee for a personal interview and update on program requirements.

Prerequisite Nursing Courses
Nursing Challenge Exams For NUR 110, NUR 120 & NUR 125 13 hours
     NLN LPN-RN ACE I Exams (Foundations; Childbearing); or
     ATI Exams (Fundamentals-RN; Maternity-RN)
NUR 130 LPN-to-RN Transition 3 hours
     Offered in Summer Session
     Taken only by LPNs admitted to the nursing program
     Must complete pre-requisite Nursing Challenge Exams
